The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) Mrs. Elsie Nghikembua convened a meeting with the Authorised Representatives of the Political Party Liaison Committee (PLC) on the 09th of November 2021.
The Chairperson introduced the new members of the Commission and shared the strategic intent of the Commission over the next 5 years. The Chairperson also reminded political parties of the importance of complying with the provisions related to Political Party financing as stipulated in the Electoral Act, Act 5 of 2014.
This was the first engagement by Ms. Nghikembua with the members of the PLC after her appointment as Chairperson of the ECN on 16th September 2021.
On his part, the CEO of the Commission, Mr. Theo Mujoro, gave an update to the PLC on the Ncamagoro Constituency by-election and the ongoing Electoral Act amendment process. The CEO also shared highlights of the key focus areas of the Commission as it relates to the Strategic Planning Process the Commission is currently undertaking.
